Financial Analyst, Mergers & Acquistions at Quicken Loans, Detroit, MI

We've been named to Fortune Magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For" list for the past nine years, ranking as high as No. 2.The Financial Analyst, Mergers and Acquisitions, will support the financial due diligence and accounting efforts as well as assist with the integration for our acquisitions and strategic investments. The Financial Analyst will gain experience, responsibility and exposure to functions both within and outside of finance will have a strong finance and accounting background with mergers and acquisitions diligence and/or integration experience in public accounting or private industry. The Financial Analyst will develop financial models and performance metrics to track and enable the growth of the organization. The Financial Analyst should be able to "crunch the numbers" one minute and critically think through strategic issues the next.
Primary Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform due diligence analysis to determine initial
feasibility of mergers and acquisitions, determining
financial and capital impact
- Research and determine guidance on deal structure
and ramifications of terms, perform and report on
financial due diligence on targets for strategic
investments and acquisitions
- Contribute to transactions from initial term sheet
draft through financial due diligence, deal structuring,
integration planning, valuation of intangible assets and
purchase price allocation
- Determine purchase accounting, create journal entries
and determine consolidation structure
- Draft technical accounting documents to describe all
aspects of executed transactions, assist with financial
integration issues
- Utilize data in systems in order to analyze and to
understand results of business
- Analyze cost structure on strategic investments and
acquisitions and report findings
- Manage comprehensive performance analysis of our
strategic business investments
- Perform peer financial data comparisons and analysis
- Build analytical financial models and metrics for
start-up businesses, investments and acquisitions to
analyze and compare to current business results
- Other ad-hoc analysis as necessary
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to work with multiple individuals throughout the
organization
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting
Principles related to business combination
accounting
- Financial services accounting background is a plus,
however on the job training will be provided
- Strong written and communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to multi-task
- Self-motivated
- Excellent critical thinking and analytical skills able
to research, determine action, and implement
procedures
- Proficient with Excel and Access
- Well rounded individual who thrives in a fast paced,
demanding environment with the willingness to dig
deep into details as well as the ability to assess the
big picture
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, CPA or MBA a plus
